Indian bowlers dominate in the Eden gardens
Indian bowlers had the final say in the match at the Eden Gardens as India takes a formidable 2-0 lead in the 5 matches series.
Winning the toss and batting first, India were never off to a blistering start and they managed to post mere 252 runs on board thanks to Virat Kohli’s 92 runs innings.
It’s not too often that you can back Indian bowlers to defend the target, but things have changed considerably and with the likes of Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowling surely is a strong point.
India needed to strike early and Kumar provided it by sending both the openers back.
For a time it looked like it won’t be Kuldeep Yadav’s day with Smith and Maxwell taking the attack to the youngster.
However, it just takes a moment to change and Kuldeep turned bad day in the office to something magical as he became third Indian to take a hat-trick in ODI cricket after Kapil Dev and Chetan Sharma.
148-5 soon turned into 148-8 and then it was all about when will India close the innings down.
Stoinis did show some fight, but it was too much for him as India closed the match to win it by 50 runs.
The victory has also ensured that India tops the ODI team ranking momentarily.
India will look to seal the series on Sunday as they battle it out in Indore.
